My experience at this hotel was a mixed bag. While I enjoyed the beautiful surroundings in the Tweed Valley and the evening dinner was surprisingly good, the overall maintenance of the hotel left much to be desired. The service was hit or miss, and our room had several issues that shouldn't be present in a place like this. I felt that for the price we paid, the experience could have been much better.

Rooms
5.0
Our room had significant maintenance issues, including a broken window and stains on the bed, which were quite off-putting.
Service
5.0
The staff made an effort, but with only one receptionist available, requests took longer than expected.
Location
8.0
The hotel is beautifully situated in the Tweed Valley with lovely views, which definitely enhanced our stay.
Dining
7.0
The evening dinner was quite good, with tasty beef cheeks, though breakfast was below par with cold food.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities appeared worn and in need of updates; not what I would expect for a spa hotel.

6.6/10

My stay was quite a mixed bag. While I appreciated the beautiful surroundings and some aspects of the dining experience, I encountered significant issues with the cleanliness and maintenance of my room. The staff were somewhat accommodating, but there were definitely moments where their responsiveness was lacking, which detracted from an otherwise pleasant experience.

Rooms
5.0
The initial room I was given had threadbare carpet and left a lot to be desired in terms of cleanliness, which was disappointing. However, I was later moved to a better room with nicer decor, which was more enjoyable.
Service
6.0
Service was hit or miss; while some staff were eager to help, the overall responsiveness was lacking, especially during busy times at the bar and restaurant.
Location
8.0
Nestled in the picturesque Tweed valley and close to Peebles, the location offered stunning views and easy access to local shops and cafes, enhancing my overall experience.
Dining
7.0
The food was surprisingly good; I enjoyed the meals very much, particularly the breakfast. However, I did face challenges securing dinner reservations, which was frustrating.
Facilities
7.0
Facilities seemed adequate but weren't particularly remarkable. The spa had a relaxing atmosphere that I appreciated, even if other areas felt cramped due to the busy clientele.

The experience at Cardrona was quite mixed. While the evening meal during the murder mystery event was fantastic and truly enjoyable, many aspects of the stay, including room cleanliness and breakfast quality, left much to be desired. The hotel definitely has potential, but some areas need urgent attention to match its previous standards.

Rooms
5.0
The room was adequate, but cleanliness was an issue, with worn carpets and less than thorough upkeep.
Service
6.0
While reception staff were attentive, the service in the restaurant was lacking, and it felt like staff could have been friendlier.
Location
9.0
Set in the beautiful Tweed Valley, the location is ideal for those looking to enjoy a peaceful and scenic environment.
Dining
6.0
Dinner options, especially during theme nights, were delicious, but breakfast quality was disappointing, with cold items and lack of replenishing.
Facilities
6.0
Although the leisure facilities add to the relaxing atmosphere, the hotel itself feels a bit tired and under-maintained.

6.8/10

While the hotel has potential thanks to its lovely views and well-kept golf area, it falls short of its 4-star rating due to tired rooms and a mixed experience with staff. Although dining and spa facilities provided moments of enjoyment, service consistency needs improvement for overall satisfaction.

Rooms
5.0
The rooms felt tired, with carpets in poor condition and cleanliness issues like ash on surfaces.
Service
6.0
Service varied, with some staff being indifferent and lacking engagement, though a few, like the restaurant manager, were exceptional.
Location
8.0
Set in a beautiful area with lovely views, the location provides a nice retreat.
Dining
7.0
Dining experiences were hit-and-miss; while the food quality was praised, service during meals could improve as well.
Facilities
8.0
The spa treatments were great, with well-maintained facilities contributing positively to the experience.

6.6/10

While the hotel offered lovely views and some excellent dining experiences, overall, I was quite disappointed with the upkeep of our room and the service during our stay. The golf course was impressive, but the buggy hire felt overpriced, which made it hard to justify for next time. It had potential, but certain aspects need significant improvement.

Rooms
5.0
Our room had a beautiful view, but it was quite tired-looking with scuffed walls and a carpet in need of replacement. It could have benefited from a deeper clean, as the bathroom wasn't adequately serviced during our stay.
Service
6.0
Service was hit or miss; some staff were quite friendly, while others seemed overwhelmed or unengaged. We had to chase up for drink orders during dinner, which added to the frustration.
Location
9.0
The hotel is situated in a lovely area overlooking the golf course, making it ideal for those interested in golfing and enjoying the scenic surroundings.
Dining
7.0
The dining options were quite good, especially the food quality during dinner. However, breakfast service was chaotic and could use better organization.
Facilities
6.0
The overall maintenance of facilities left something to be desired, particularly in the dining area where things felt a bit disheveled on busier mornings.
